Abahani extend winning run in premier hockey

Ajax beat Victoria Sporting Club

Title aspirant Abahani Limited registered their eighth successive victories in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League beating Bangladesh Sporting Club by 6-2 goals in the second match of the day held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday, reports BSS.
In the day's match, star defender Ashraful Islam scored hat-trick with three goals while Obaidul Hossain Joy, Puskar Khisa Mimo and Mohammad Abdullah supported him with a lone goal each for Abahani Limited.
Indian recruit Gurpeet Singh struck twice for Bangladesh Sporting Club.
The day's win saw, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited raised their tally to twenty four points from eight matches while Bangladesh Sporting Club remained at their previous collection of eight points playing the same number of matches.
Meanwhile, India recruit Silhaiba Lisham slammed a brilliant hat-trick saw Ajax Sporting Club registered a massive 7-3 goals win over Victoria Sporting Club in the first match of Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League held at the same.
Apart from Lisham hat-trick three goals, Tanjim Ahmed and his compatriot Harshukpreet Singh supported him with a two goal each for the winning side.
While Syed Iqbal Nadir Prince and two Indian recruit Akkhar Dube and Ershad Mirza netted one goal apiece for Victoria.
With the day's win, Ajax improved their tally with 11 points from nine matches while Victoria Sporting Club remained at their previous credit of three points playing eight outings.
In the proceeding, Tanjim put Ajax ahead in the 13th minute converting a penalty corner while in the next minute Akkhar Dube leveled the margin for Victoria also converting a penalty corner.
In the second quarter, Tanjim again put Ajax ahead scoring his second while Harshukpreet Singh further widened the margin scoring the third goal converting a penalty corner in the 23rd minute.
Lisham made the score line 4-1 converting a field goal in the 27th minute while Mirza reduced the margin for Victoria converting a penalty corner in the 36th minute of the third quarter.
