Abahani, MSC earn 2nd successive win

Holders Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) earned their 2nd consecutive victory in the Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League at separate venues Sunday, reports UNB.
Abahani Limited managed a 29-run victory over newcomers Khelaghar SKC at the Fatullah Stadium, while Dhaka Mohammedan SC earned a 27-run win over BKSP at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Earlier, in their inaugural matches, Abahani Limited made a flying start with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Kalabagan KC, while Mohammedan SC notched a five-wicket win against Victoria SC.
At the Fatullah Stadium, Abahani Limited batted first after winning the toss and scored 268 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs.
Ajay Kudua contributed match highest 67 runs off 87 balls with four fours and a six, while wicket-keeper Sahagir Hossain scored 52 runs off 69 balls with three fours and a six.
Mahbubul Karim (25), Nadif Chowdhury (25), Rony Talukder (24), Nasir Hossain (24) and Imrul Kayes (19) were the other major contributors to Abahani score.
Manwar Hossain captured four wickets for 47 runs while Enamul Haque took two wickets for 38 runs.
In reply, Khelaghar SKS fought bravely against Abahani before they were forced to close their innings at 239 for 7.
Ashraf Ali (58), Aslam Ali (56), Shafiul Alam (42), Niaz Morshed (32), Masum Khan (17) and Ashraful Nabi (11) were the other notable scorers for Khelaghar SKS.
Arafat Sunny and Mohammad Rafique grabbed two wickets each for 31 and 43 runs respectively.
Sent in to bat first in Bogra, Mohammedan SC were all out for 208 in 48.4 overs with Foysal Hossain contributing 38 runs off 55 balls that included two boundaries.
Farveez Maharoof (31), Nafees Iqbal (28), Khaled Mashud (22), Mohammad Shahzada (21) and Saqlain Sajib (18) were the other main scorers for Mohammedan SC.
Chasing the moderate target, BKSP were all out for 181 in 48 overs with Soumya Sarker making 41, Ashiqul Alam 35, Aisal Ahmed 26 and Asif Ahmed 25 runs.
Nabil Samad claimed three wickets for 41 runs while Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Shahzada took two wickets each for 24 and 25 runs respectively.
In the day's other match, Victoria SC tasted the first win in their 2nd match beating Surjotarun Club by 35 runs at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Sent in to bat first, Victoria SC were dismissed for 144 runs in 46.2 overs, but later they bundled out Surjotarun Club for 109 in 41.3 overs.
