Abahani play Brothers in 1st semi of Fed Cup Football today

The first semifinal of the season's curtain raiser soccer meet, the GrameenPhone Federation Cup Football Tournament, will be held today (Monday) at the floodlit Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur in the city, reports UNB.
Professional league champions Abahani Limited, which clinched the Federation Cup crown on seven occasions, will meet three-time champions Brothers Union Club in the first semis at 5 pm.
National star-studded Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play the 2nd semifinal against formidable Muktijoddha Sangsad KC Tuesday at 5:pm at the same venue.
The final match will be held on October 29, also at 5 pm at the same venue.
State-owned Bangladesh Television (BTV) will telecast live both the semi-finals and the final.
The tournament committee has fixed the rate of gallery tickets for all three matches at Tk 40 each. School students in school uniforms or by showing their identity cards will be allowed to witness the matches free of cost.
Abahani Limited reached the semifinal as Group A champions by virtue of better goal difference after beating Rahmatganj MFS 2-0, playing 1-1 draw with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and goalless draw with Sheikh Russell KC.
Brothers Union booked a seat for the last four as Group B runners-up beating Mohammedan SC 2-0, Feni Soccer Club 3-1 and losing 0-3 against Muktijoddha SKC.
