Abahani register hard-fought 1-0 win against Bangladesh Police

Abahani Limited registered a hard-fought 1-0 goal win against new comer Bangladesh Police in group D opening match of the Federation Cup Football Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Sunday, reports UNB.
Pranotosh Kumar Das scored the all-important goal for Abahani in the 15th minute with a header form inside the danger zone after receiving a free kick taken by Munna at the left wing (1-0).
Abahani Limited coach Amlesh Sen later admitted that his team has failed to play desired football on the opening day. Midfielders have collapsed and missed a couple of open nets.
Equally, Police team did not make a good start in the first half. But they really came back to the match in the second half although they failed to score.
Abahani got the first scoring chance in the very 8th minute, but Ghana striker Awudu Ibrahim right footer from inside the danger zone went beside the bar. It lost a certain goal in the 70th minute, but Bangladesh Police custodian Azam Khan, who played superb, foiled Enamul Haque's attempt at a cost of corner.
Police got the only real scoring chance in the 22nd minute as striker Nazmul Hasan header off Sri Ashim Chowdhury pass was returned to play after hitting the cross bar.

Earlier, in the day's other match at the same venue, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC shared point with Chittagong Abahani Limited playing 1-1 draw.
Sahajuddin Tupu put the freedom fighters ahead in the very 2nd minute of the match with a shot from the danger zone off a cross from Kanchan at right wing (1-0).
Masud Alam restored the parity for Chittagong Abahani in the very next minute with a well judged shot from the vantage position giving no chance to Muktijoddha Sanghsad KC custodian Nizam (1-1).
