Abahani's goal feast continue in Bangladesh league

Monday, 12 April 2010

Defending champions Dhaka Abahani continued their winning spree with an overwhelming 5-0 thrashing of Muktijoddha KC in the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Sunday, reports BSS.
Ghanaian forward Awudu Ibrahim, midfielder Uzzal, forward Enamul, midfielder Abul and other Moroccan forward Sheriff Deen Mohammed scored one goal each for the holders.
However the margin would have been bigger if Moroccan forward Sheriff Deen Mohammed was able to put the ball into the net on three occasions though he beat Muktijoddha custodian Nizam but missed the target.
In a lop sided affair Muktijoddha was the cornered side from the very beginning. Sherrif Deen Mohammed squandered two chances within the first thirteen minutes. Sheriff went past Nizam with an Awudu through pass in the very first minute but his placing in the far post rolled away. On the second occasion Sheriff had only Nizam to beat but curved a shot well off the side post from the middle of the box.
Awudu broke the deadlock with a 20 yard drive that beat Nizam in the air in the 19th minute and Muktijoddha was two goals down within two minutes. Awudu dashed past his marker but saw his low shot blocked by defence, unmarked Uzzal collected the ball and rushed to slot in from a close range.
In the 25th minute Sheriff completed his treble of misses repeating the action of his first miss but from the opposite angle.
Muktijoddha came close to a strike in the 38th minute but Abahani custodian Biplob denied Muktijoddha forward Raphael Sagno with a full fledged dive to his right for a corner. Sagon three minutes later put the ball straight to Biplob after a combined effort.
The second half was as dull as the first and came alive after the insertion of fresh leg Abul and Enamul. Abahani continued their exploration in the Muktijoddha defence and Enamul scored in the 70th minute, Abul included his name in the scorers list in the 80th minute and Sheriff at last found the net in the first minute of the stoppage time.
Abahani raised their tally to 46 from 16 matches while Muktijoddha remained on their previous 14 from 16 matches.
In the other match of the day at Chittagong, Chittagong Abahani fought to a 1-1 draw against the visiting Brothers Union.
