Abducted Ctg gold trader found alive

CHITTAGONG, Feb 17: Abducted gold trader Mridul Chowdhury was found alive after six days at Kongsanagar village under Comilla district Monday morning. His wife and other members of the family were so happy to have him in their midst.
Kotwali police in the city said they were informed about Mridul Chowdhury from his family members and brought him to Chittagong in the morning. He fell sick and is now undergoing treatment at the Royal Clinic in the city.
He was left blindfolded at a paddy field at Kongsanagar under Burichong upazila of Comilla at around 4.00 am on Monday. From there Chowdhury walked to the nearby village haat where the night guard saw him shouting for help.
Harunor Rashid, night guard of the village haat, told the police that he looked distressed and brought him to the house of the night guard. He informed the police beat at Devpur, police said adding that Mridul called his family members from the mobile phone of Harunor Rashid.
Kotwali police further said that immediately after receiving the news from Mridul's family a team of five members from the police station headed by sub-inspector Quamruzzaman along with Mridul's younger brother Shimul went to Burichong and received the victim from Devpur police beat where SI Debashish Biswas handed over the victim.
Narrating the incident Mridul Chowdhury told the police that he along with his younger brother Jhunu left their city residence on February 11 for their family jewellery shop at around 10.00 am. On their way to the shop a Noah microbus stopped him and some young men in plainclothes took him onto the micro bus.
When his brother cried out help the plainclothes men said they were from the detective branch in Chittagong. Mridul said he did not try to flee away as he feared that he might be shot at.
