Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel have rescued a missing Dhaka schoolgirl from the Patenga area of the port city of Chittagong, acting on an ‘abduction’ complaint lodged by her family. Rab-7 team raided a house in Patenga’s Kathgarh neighbourhood on Friday night and rescued the 16-year-old schoolgirl. The elite force also arrested one Al Amin, 20, on abduction charge. Rab-7 Deputy Director Maj Rashedul Hassan said: “The student, appearing for this year’s SSC exams, had been abducted on April 6. Her father had filed an abduction case with Dhaka’s Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal.” The girl had been held in that house at Kathgarh, he said. “We tracked Al Amin’s mobile phone calls to zero in on his whereabouts,” he said, adding that the man was being interrogated. “Al Amin has claimed that he has married the girl, but she is underage. The incident is being investigated,” the RAB officer said, according to bdnews24.com.
