Abducted schoolboy rescued, one held

FENI, Nov 24 (UNB): A school student, Jahedul Islam (14), who was kidnapped by miscreants on November 20 from Sadar Upazila, was rescued Sunday.
Saudi expatriate Abdul Momin's son Jahedul, resident of Mohammadpur village in Sadar Upazila, is a student of class VIII in Lemua High School.
He lives at his maternal grandfather's house under Lemua Union of the upazila.
Jahedul said he became senseless after five unknown miscreants sprayed something on his face at Lemua Bazaar while he was on way home from school at about 3:00pm on November 20.
Later, they took him to an unknown place from where they made contact with his family dialling by cell phone and demanded Tk 0.4 million (4.0 lakh) as ransom for his release.
The miscreants also warned his family members of taking out his kidney and selling it if their demand was not met.
Meanwhile, Jahedul's grandfather, Bashir Ahmed, went to the police and informed them of the matter. The police advised him to negotiate with the kidnappers.
After negotiation, the abductors agreeing to take Tk 0.15 million in ransom asked the guardian to come to a certain place in the district town along with the money.
Jahedul's mother Ayesha along with two plainclothes policewomen went to the kidnappers, who changed their locations five to six times, at Dewanganj rail crossing in the town.
The police caught one of the kidnappers, Abul Kalam, while taking the money at about 3:30pm.
Later, the kidnappers freed Jahedul. The police said they were on a hunt to arrest other kidnappers.
