Abducted schoolgirl rescued in Joypurhat

Joypurhat police claim to have rescued a schoolgirl who was abducted after miscreants killed her elder brother on Friday night. ‘Shipon’ who is said to have masterminded the abduction has already been arrested. Miscreants kidnapped the young girl from her house after killing her elder brother. Joypurhat’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Hamidul Alam said the abducted girl was rescued in the early hours of Sunday from a house in the Sadar Upazila. The suspected mastermind was also nabbed from there. He is the sixth person arrested for the murder and abduction at Dogachhi-Pakurtali village. Others arrested in this connection are Jahurul Islam, 20, Sohel Rana, 17, Rajon Hossain, 19, ‘Saurav’, 17, and ‘Manik’, 16. Police said Shipon of Khanjanpur in the suburb of Joypurhat town had picked up Khadiza Begum, 20, forcefully and married her three months back. When the family of Khadiza came to know that Shipon was married and he had a child, they called Shipon to their house and gave him a thrashing. Later they got Khadiza divorced from Shipon. In sequel to the enmity, Shipon along with his 10-12 associates riding on several motorbikes stormed into Khadiza’s house and abducted her around 9:30pm on Friday. They also beat Sabuj, 18, brother of Khadiza and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot, according to a news agency.
