\\\'Abductor\\\' cop returns to office

Tuesday, 11 November 2014

A police constable, who was arrested for abducting a former Bangladesh Army sergeant and forcibly withdrawing money from his bank account, has been sent back to his department for work. However, no punitive action has been taken so far against Constable Jahangir Alam who works in the Protection and Protocol Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Alam on Saturday and handed him over to police at night the same day. Both RAB and police had squabbled for the last 2 days but at the end held each other responsible for inaction against the man. RAB said they nabbed Alam after getting a complaint and then handed him over, believing police would do the rest. Police, on the other hand, said they could not take any steps as no case was lodged by RAB. Abducted former Army sergeant Abdul Mannan also did not file any complaint, they said, according to bdnews24.com.
