Captors have set free singer Sourav Chakma aka Tintin and his friend Ricky Dewan five days after their abduction in Rangamati town. Police rescued them from near a Buddhist temple in Hengelchharhi area, between Naniarchar and Mohalchharhi Upazilas around 11.30pm on Friday, said Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad. Tintin’s wife Trimida Chakma said she had spoken to her husband after he was freed. Both of them are doing fine, she said. On April 14, miscreants waylaid a CNG auto-rickshaw carrying the two in Hengelchharhi on their way back to Rangamati from Khagrachari and kidnapped them. They also demanded $ 200,000 (Tk 16 million) as ransom from the two. Police have detained Udayan Chakma and Rupendu Chakma for suspected involvement. Tintin is the son of Sujit Chakma, a retired chief engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board, Chittagong division, according to bdnews24.com.
