Abe applauds Hasina

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has applauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her ‘dynamic and visionary leadership’ which has guided Bangladesh towards the brink of becoming a middle income country. Bangladesh has set its sights on attaining the middle income country status by 2021. Extolling Bangladesh for its ‘spectacular success’ in economic and social sectors, Abe also admired Hasina for ‘promoting peace, stability and progress at regional and global level’. He reaffirmed his commitment that Japan would remain ‘a trusted friend and partner’ of Bangladesh in achieving these goals. Reciprocating Abe’s compliments, Hasina lauded his leadership. She praised Japan’s ‘outstanding achievement’ in socio-economic development under the leadership of Abe. Hasina also announced withdrawing Bangladesh’s candidature for the non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in favour of Japan, according to a news agency.
