Abe in town

Saturday, 6 September 2014

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport on a 22-hour official visit to Bangladesh. His wife, Akie Abe, is accompanying him. Shinzo Abe's brief but crucial tour, aiming to expand and deepen 'comprehensive partnership' between the two countries, takes place after 14 years since the visit of then Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori to Bangladesh in 2000. Abe is leading a 150-member delegation, including a 50-member business team and 50 media persons, to Bangladesh. Red carpets were rolled out to Shinzo and Akie Abe on their arrival in Dhaka around 1:05pm. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed the Japanese premier and his wife at the VVIP Lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport, according to private TV channels.
