About 0.15m people die of cancer in B'desh every year

About 0.15 million (1.5 lakh) people die of fatal disease cancer in Bangladesh every year, reports UNB.
This was disclosed Friday at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day international symposium on Cancer and Developmental Biology at Dhaka University Friday.
It was revealed at the symposium that about a million people are now suffering from cancer in Bangladesh. "The total number of newly diagnosed cancer cases is about 0.2 million".
It was also said approximately 30,000 women develop breast cancer annually and about 90 per cent of them die of this disease in Bangladesh due to lack of awareness and proper treatment not given timely.
Bangladesh Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BSBMB) and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the university jointly organised the symposium at the Senate Bhaban. DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the symposium. Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr MA Bashar attended the function as guest of honour with BSBMB President Prof Dr Syed Saleheen Qadri in the chair.
Speakers said that cancer of the uterus was common among Bangladeshi women. Modern developmental biology studies the genetic control of cell growth, differentiation and morphogenesis which is the process that gives rise to the tissues, organs and anatomy.
