FE Report | Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Around 22,572 ready flats worth about Tk 215.06 billion remained unsold till December, 2013, causing an adverse impact on the country's real estate sector, REHAB leaders said.
The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) leaders said though local real estate business witnessed a sluggish trend in last two years, the situation deteriorated further following the country's recent political turmoil.
These were observed at a press conference on 'REHAB Fair 2014' at the National Press Club in the city on Monday.
REHAB acting President and chairman of Fair Standing Committee Maj Gen (retd) Abdur Rashid said: "Only 141 REHAB members out of 1,215 will take part in the fair, which is an indication of sluggishness of the real estate sector."
"We are expecting a good response from the buyers as it will be a good gathering of the buyers and sellers," he said.
The five-day long fair will start on March 20 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. This fair was supposed to be held in winter season which was delayed due to political turmoil and elections.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu will attend the inaugural ceremony of the fair as chief guest while Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha chairman Nurul Huda as special guest.
The fair will remain open on the inaugural day from 2pm to 9pm, March 21 from 11am to 9.30pm, March 22 from 1pm to 9.30pm and March 23 and 24 from 11am to 9pm.
