Academy team beat NT Strike by 50 runs

The visiting GP-BCB Academy team earned a 50-run victory over Northern Territory (NT) Strike in a one-day match of the Crocodile Cup at the Marrara Cricket Ground Friday, reports UNB.
Batting first after winning the toss, the Academy team posted 268 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs with number six Nayeem Islam contributing team highest 61 runs off 69 balls that featured six fours and a six.
Dhiman Ghosh hammered 55 runs off 42 balls with six fours after openers Sahagir Hossain Pavel 31, Imrul Kayes 27 and Roquibul Hasan 27 earlier laid the foundation for the tourists.
Hodgson and Bayly grabbed two wickets each giving away 37 and 40 runs respectively.
In reply, opener M Page notched a century scoring 108 runs off 149 balls with 10 fours, but that was not enough to save his side from the defeat. The NT Strike were restricted to 218 for 7 in 50 overs.
Apart from Page, middle order D Short contributed 43 runs off 50 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Robin and skipper Mehrab Hossain Jr. claimed two wickets each for 32 and 35 runs respectively while Dollar Mahmud, Enamul Haque Jr. and Nayeem Islam took one wicket apiece.
The BCB Academy team will conclude their Australia tour with a four-day match against NT Strike beginning on September 10 at the University Ground.
