ACC arrests DIFE DIG in Dinajpur

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested Md Mostafizur Rahman, a deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment (DIFE), in Dinajpur on Wednesday on charge of bribery.
A seven-member ACC team, led by its deputy director Ahsanul Kabir Palash, caught the DIFE official red-handed while taking Tk 80,000 from a food processor.
According to the ACC public relations department, Mostafizur threatened the officials of Eshan Agro and Food (Pvt) Ltd, situated at Ambari under Chirirbandar in Dinajpur, of cancelling licence and filing a case, if they do not pay bribe to him.
Acting on the allegation of bribery in the ACC Hotline 106, the commission took necessary steps to arrest the official. The national anti-graft authority will soon lodge a case in this regard.
