Tuesday, 18 March 2014

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Tuesday sent a notice to Petrobangla chairman Prof Dr M Hossain Monsur asking him to provide some information concerning the managing directors of six sister companies.
ACC deputy director Ahsan Ali sent the notice seeking information on five managing directors of Petrobangla’s sister companies as to whether they have faced any case or departmental inquires since 2009.
The notice also sought documents about inconsistency in import and storage of condensate in Sylhet Gas Fields Limited since 2009, according to a news agency.
On March 10, 2014, the ACC launched a probe into the graft allegation against Petrobangla chairman Prof Dr M Hossain Monsur and 13 managing directors of its subsidiaries.
The ACC sources said the 13 managing directors of Petrobangla’s companies swindled over Tk 2 billion while carrying out development works in last four years. As the Petrobangla chairman did not take action against them, he has to take responsibility in this regard, they added.
