ACC chief for social movement against corruption

Anti-corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood stressed the need for social movement against corruption and drug abuse on Sunday to save the future generations from getting destroyed.
Terming corruption, drug business and its abuse interconnected, he said corrupt people get involved in drug peddling to earn money illegally.
The ACC chairman made the remarks as the chief guest of an anti-drug and anti-corruption gathering, organised at the auditorium of North South University (NSU) in the city.
Department of Narcotics Control Director General Khandakar Rakibur Rahman, NSU Vice Chancellor Atiqul Islam and its trustee board member Azim Uddin Ahmed, Association for Prevention of Drug Abuse (MANAS) Founder President Dr Arup Ratan Choudhury, and Maryland University, USA Professor Anwar Huq also spoke at the function.
Mr Iqbal Mahmood further said an unscrupulous section of the society wants to take the youths to the path of darkness.
Addressing the students of NSU, the ACC chairman said the youth should be aware of drug abuse and corruption. He noted that corruption has been destroying 2.0 to 3.0 per cent of the country's economic growth, so collective effort against corruption is a must.
