ACC chief urges all to abhor corruption

Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury Friday said, everybody has to understand the ultimate consequences of corruption and abhor it from own sense, reports BSS.
"Corruption will drastically fall when everybody will be able to realise the consequences of corruption and be guided by the sense that both taking and giving bribe is an offence," he said.
Hasan Mashhud was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a two-day conference on "Youth Ending Hunger-Bangladesh" at Gonoshastha Kendra auditorium at Savar Friday.
Noted economist Prof Mozaffar Ahmed, Hunger Project Country Director Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Director of Institute of Educational Development Monjur Ahmed, Professor of Dhaka University Mesbah Kamal and Joint Secretary of the Education Ministry M Nazrul Islam Khan also addressed, among others, on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury said, the commission is making its efforts to establish accountability at all levels of the society.
He said, the commission has taken a year-long campaign programme to create awareness against corruption. Steps had been taken to involve families, society and educational institutions with the campaign, he added.
Prof Mozaffar Ahmed laid importance on involving youth community in the motivation programme against corruption. Terming the corruption as one of the main obstacles to our development, he said, the nation must be free from the stigma.
