ACC draft organogram okayed with 2,150 workforce

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at a meeting approved on Sunday its draft organogram with the strength of 2,150 workforce altogether following some changes.
The ACC board approved the organogram to expand its activities to 66 districts including two separate entities for Dhaka and Chittagong city areas.
According to the approved organogram, there will be 22 coordinated district offices for supervising 66 district offices.
The anti-corruption watchdog also promoted its 47 officials at the same meeting, a highly placed ACC official confirmed.
Currently, the ACC has one chairman, two commissioners, six directors general, 19 directors and 81 deputy directors. There has not been any change in the top two tiers of the anti-graft watchdog.
There have been eight directors general instead of the present six although the draft organogram proposed for seven directors general.
The approved organogram has 26 new directors against the existing 19. There are 168 deputy directors against 81, some 260 assistant directors against 133 and 309 deputy assistant directors against 124.  
The approved organogram created 70 court inspectors instead of 21 posts and two administrative officers instead of one. There will be many other new positions including medical officer, nurse, pharmacist, medical assistant etc.
According to the ACC source, 42 new posts of deputy director have been created for new district offices.
The present organogram was approved on June 06, 2006 after the commission had been formed in 2004.
The ACC was established under a law that came into force on May 9, 2004. Previously, it was named the Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC).
Meanwhile, the ACC promoted its 47 officials.
According to approved organogram, ACC got 70 per cent increase in the manpower as the anti-corruption watchdog has only 973 posts currently, though it is supposed to have 1,264 manpower.
The Sunday's meeting promoted five to directors from deputy directors, seven to deputy directors from assistant directors, 23 to assistant directors from deputy assistant directors.
Twelve ACC staff members also got promotion as deputy assistant directors.
The ACC had decided to select the names of its 78 deputy directors as per seniority on October 21 in 2014.
On November 6, 2014 the ACC published the officials' names.
However, ACC has not yet published names of its promoted officials as there was much rancour over the promotion.
A director general told the FE that the list of the promoted officials will be published next week.
