ACC Dy. Director Mahbubul Alam suspended temporarily

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Mahbubul Alam has been suspended temporarily on charges of corruption, bribery, and amassing illegal wealth.
The suspension order was issued by ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen on September 4 last, an official notice said, adding that the suspension took effect from the date of issuance, it revealed.
According to the notice, reports were published in different national newspapers with regard to Mahbubul Alam's alleged involvement in taking large amounts of money as extortions from different people with threats of false cases.
As per the allegations, he took a large amount of money from the principal and officials of Ideal School in exchange for relieving him from investigation, and received Tk 100 million from the managing director of Essential Drugs.
He allegedly acquires land and other assets in his own name as well as in the names of his wife and mother, the notice mentioned, adding that he owns assets worth about Tk 1.50 billion in Gulshan, Bashundhara, Joar Sahara, and Demra in Dhaka, as well as in Sarishabari of Jamalpur.
