ACC files case against customs commissioner

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Mohammad Enamul Haque, commissioner of the Customs, Valuation and Internal Audit Department, for allegedly acquiring an illegal wealth of around Tk 100 million.
ACC's Dhaka Integrated District Office Assistant Director Mahbubul Alam filed the case as the plaintiff on Monday.
ACC deputy director (Public Relations) Muhammad Arif Sadek confirmed the matter.
In the lawsuit, Enamul has been accused of illegally acquiring wealth worth over Tk 97.69 million which is inconsistent with his income and beyond his known sources of income, as per the case document.
The ACC has launched an inquiry against Mohammad Enamul Haque since November 2022 for allegedly acquiring illegal assets. He was then interrogated in the first week of November that year.
He was accused of acquiring illegal assets worth over Tk 1.0 billion. Various allegations were found against him of buying land and flats anonymously in various places including Rampura and Aftabnagar in the capital and laundering huge amount of money abroad.
