ACC for adding Abbas\\\' name in land allocation case

FE Report | Tuesday, 11 November 2014

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation officer Jatan Kumar Roy on Monday submitted report in a case over alleged anomalies in allocation of 7 acres of land, recommending to include three new names, including that of former housing and public works minister Mirza Abbas, in a case filed earlier.
The two other names are: National Housing Authority (NHA) former chairman Matiar Rahman and director Mehedi Hasan. ACC officials confirmed it to The Financial Express.
On March 6, ACC field a case with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital, accusing former state minister for housing and public works Alamgir Kabir, and NHA former deputy director Azaharul Haque, office assistant Matiar Rahman and cashier Mansur Alam.
According to the allegation, the seven-acre plot at Mirpur was allotted to Dhaka Journalists Cooperatives Society Limited during the last BNP-led government's tenure, when Mirza Abbas was the housing and public works minister and Alamgir Kabir was his deputy.
The case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
