ACC grills 5 Rajuk officials

Dhaka, Mar 6 (UNB) – The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday interrogated five Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) officials in connection with irregularities in Rajuk plot distribution.

 

ACC deputy director Jatan Kumar Roy started grilling them at about 10 am and continued the interrogation till 5 pm at the ACC head office, sources at the Commission said.

 

The officials who were grilled today are Rajuk director Syed Nazrul Islam, former director Sirej Uddin, deputy director Ahsan Iqbal and assistant directors Mohammad Musa and Razia Sultana.

 

On Wednesday, the ACC also questioned former Housing and Public Works Secretary Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain, director general of Non-Formal Education Bureau Akhter Hossain Bhuiyan (former DCC North administrator), joint secretary of Food Ministry Mahbubul Alam (then Rajuk member, development) and former Rajuk member (planning) Anwarul Islam Shikder over the issue.

 

On February 27 last, the ACC quizzed Rajuk chairman Nurul Huda in connection with the graft allegation.

 

The ACC launched a probe last month into allegations against Dr Showkat Hossain that he took Rajuk plots for him, his wife and mother abusing his power.
