ACC grills BNP leader Anee

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday interrogated BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee in connection with the allegation of acquiring wealth illegally. ACC deputy director Manjur Morshed grilled the BNP leader for one hour from 10 am, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said. The Commission earlier sent a notice to Anee asking him to be present in person at the ACC head office on the stipulated date for interrogation. On February 2 last, the anti-graft body launched investigation into the graft allegations against BNP leader Anee. In January last, the ACC also launched probes into the allegations of unusual wealth accumulation by seven politicians. The ACC inquiry officers are conducting probes into the graft allegations against former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, former State Minister for Water Resources M Mahbubur Rahman, Enamul Haque, MP (Rajshahi-4), Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP (Ukhia-Teknaf), Aslamul Haque, MP (Dhaka-14), and Abdul Jabbar, former MP (Satkhira-2), according to UNB.
