ACC launches graft probe against 10 AL MPs, others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday launched an inquiry into the allegations of embezzlement, illegal wealth accumulation, and corruption against 20 leaders, including 10 former members of parliament (MPs) from Awami League (AL).
Based on gathered information, the ACC initiated this probe and decided to move forward with the inquiry, Md. Akhtarul Islam, ACC deputy director, confirmed.
The suspects are accused of money laundering, abuse of power, and irregularities in various projects, which led to acquisition of substantial illegal assets both in Bangladesh and abroad.
The former MPs are: Ekramul Karim Chowdhury (Noakhali-4), Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim (Feni-1), Iftekhar Uddin Talukder (Netrakona-4), MA Zaher (Cumilla-6), Fahmi Gulandaz Babel (Mymensingh-10), Aftab Uddin Sarkar (Nilphamari-1), Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, (Chattogram-12), Omar Faruk Chowdhury (Rajshahi-1), Hosne Ara (reserved seat), and Dipankar Talukder (Rangamati).
