FE Report | Wednesday, 27 June 2018

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) caught a field officer of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) red-handed on Tuesday while he was taking a bribe of Tk 0.2 million.
Acting on a complaint, the ACC nabbed Jahidur Rahman from his office in the city's Uttara under WASA's PPI revenue zone-9 at around 3:30pm, said ACC public relations official Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
Later, ACC's Dhaka integrated district office assistant director Monirul Islam filed a case in this regard with Uttara East Police Station.
According to the case statement, the WASA officer demanded Tk 0.5 million from Gold Coast International Ltd. manager Ashek Sadek Chowdhury for regularising the bill for a deep tube well installed at the factory.
The WASA officer also threatened the manager to cut off the tube well line if the bribe isn't paid. However, after negotiation, the bribe was settled at Tk 0.2 million
