Monday, 19 November 2007

Officials of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) have been urged to make their sincere efforts to create a corruption-free atmosphere in the country within the next five years.
ACC Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury made the appeal addressing a certificate-giving ceremony of a fortnight-long training course organised for the field-level officials of ACC in the city Sunday, reports BSS.
A total of 23 directors, deputy directors and assistant directors level officials took part in the training organised for the first time as part of capacity-building programme of the ACC with the financial support of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).
Among others, Executive Director of TIB Dr Iftekheruzzaman and Director General (Training) of the ACC Abu Taleb addressed the function.
Highlighting the goals of the ACC and aspiration of common people on the Commission, the chairman said the Commission had to stand on its own feet to make the people's dream true.
"In view of this the Commission has been striving to bring the corrupts under prosecution, create social awareness among people against corruption and build up the capacity so that it can function independently in future," the ACC chairman said.
Urging the officials to send the message to people on the three above goals of the Commission, he said adding, the nation would certainly get a corruption-free atmosphere when the goals would be achieved.
The ACC chairman said brilliant officials of the ACC would be sent abroad to enhance their performance and further improve their capacity to fight corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, Iftekharuzzaman expressed his satisfaction to be associated with the ACC and assured the Commission of providing all financial and administrative support.
