ACC okays filing three cases against dy secy Malek, 17 others

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) approved filing three cases against 18 officials of health department including deputy secretary Abdul Malek (Hospital-2) for alleged embezzlement of fund worth around Tk 150 million.
The ACC in its regular meeting on Tuesday approved the cases, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the FE.
The 18 accused in connivance with each other purchased heavy machinery for Satkhira Medical College Hospital and Dinajpur Medical College Hospital at three times higher price than the market price.
The ACC investigation team led Deputy Director Amirul Islam found enough proof of embezzlement of over Tk 150 million.
The other accused in the cases are Principal of Satkhira Medical College and Hospital SZ Atique, senior consultants of hospital AKM Jahangir Alam and Ruhul Kuddus, junior consultants Narayan Prashad Sanyal and Rahima Khatun, Resident Physician SMM Maruf Hasan, Service Officer Md Wahiduzzaman, Senior Health Education Officer AKM Sohrab Hossain, Public Works Department Engineer Md Harun or Rashid, owner of Mercantile Trade International Md Abdus Sattar, Bengal Scientific and Surgical owner Md Zaher Uddin and repairman Md Habibur Rahman, two former directors of Dinajpur Medical College Abu Bakar Siddique and Iqbal Hossain, deputy director Siddiqur Rahman and Blair Aviation owner Moksedul Islam.
The cases will be filed next week in respective police stations.
