The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated Tuesday former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque and his son Ziaul Haque over their alleged accumulation of illegal wealth.
An ACC inquiry team, led by its Deputy Director Mirza Zahidul Islam quizzed them for two and a half hours from 11:00 am at the Commission headquarters in the city, the anti-graft watchdog public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told reporters.
After the interrogation, the ACC has asked the former Health Minister to submit his wealth statement before it within seven days.
The Commission summoned the former minister and his son over their alleged accumulation of illegal wealth.
On January 22, the interrogation move against him came after the ACC launched probes into corruption allegations against seven former ministers and lawmakers.
The other ministers and MPs were former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, former state minister for water resources Mahbubur Rahman MP, lawmaker of Cox's Bazar-4 Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP of Rajshahi-4 Engineer Enamul Haq, MP of Dhaka-14 Aslamul Haque and Abdul Zabbar of Satkhira.
The ACC took the initiative against the seven persons based on media reports that said their wealth had increased manifold during the last tenure of the ruling party.
