ACC quizzes ex-jr minister Mahbub

The Anti Corruption Commission on Wednesday interrogated former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman for reportedly acquiring illegal wealth. ACC investigation officer and deputy director Farid Ahmed Patwari questioned him for several hours from 10:00am at the ACC headquarters at Segunbagicha in Dhaka. On August 21, 2014, the ACC sued Mahbubur Rahman along with former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan and Cox’s Bazar-4 (Teknaf) MP Abdur Rahman Bodi on charge of accumulating wealth illegally. According to the 1st information report (FIR), Mahbub acquired movable and immovable wealth, worth about Tk 52 million, and captured lands by signing advance payment deals. Mahbub also concealed information about wealth worth about Tk 12.5m in his asset account. He submitted his wealth statement to the ACC on April 3, 2014, mentioning it worth Tk 5,85,00,512. During the ACC inquiry, it was found that he amassed wealth illegally during 2009-2013, according to a news agency.
