The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has quizzed former State Minister Mahbubur Rahman about his wealth. The ACC grilled him at its Segunbagicha office on Sunday on charges of amassing wealth illegally. ACC Deputy Director Khairul Huda started quizzing Mahbubur Rahman at 11:30 am, sources at the Commission said. The Commission on February 12 sent notice to the former state minister for water resources asking him to appear in person at the ACC headquarters on the stipulated date to face grilling. On January 22, the ACC appointed seven inquiry officials to conduct probes into the allegations of amassing wealth illegally by seven politicians, including Mahbub. As per the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission for the recently held 10th parliamentary polls, wealth of Mahbub has increased by 8,422 percent to nearly Tk 20 million. On February 4, the assigned ACC inquiry officer visited Patuakhali-4 constituency to collect information as part of his probe into the allegations of illegal wealth accumulated by Mahbub, according to UNB.
