ACC receives affidavit of Hawlader from EC

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) received Thursday the affidavit and information about the former Jatiya Party (JP) secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader from the Election Commission (EC) who (Hawlader) reportedly amassed illegal wealth during the last five years.
ACC assistant director Hamidul Hasan received the letter sent by EC secretariat, the anti-graft watchdog public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told reporters.
The ACC sent a letter to the EC On Monday last, requesting to send all the information including affidavit that Mr Hawlader provided to the EC before the 10th Parliamentary Election.
On April 9, the ACC took a decision to investigate the alleged illegal wealth of Mr Hawlader after getting complaints. Mr Howlader was elected MP from Patuakhali-1 constituency in the ninth parliament and from Barisal-6 in the tenth parliamentary election.
Meanwhile, the ACC filed Thursday a case against an official of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) over graft charges.
Deputy Director of the anti-graft body Harunur Rashid filed the case against Rajuk junior steno-typist Salma Khatun (Salma Jahan) with city's Motijheel Police Station for allegedly embezzling about Tk 8.74 million, ACC officials said.
 Mr Rashid conducted a probe into the graft allegation against the Rajuk staff.
The case details said Ms Salma has accumulated illegal wealth in her name and her adopted son's name.
