ACC seeks 6 ministers, MPs affidavits

Monday, 27 January 2014

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought the affidavits which theĀ  three former ministers and three MPs had filed with their nomination papers before the election, an Election Commission (EC) official has said.
The EC will be sending the papers shortly to comply with the request of the ACC, a constitutional body, the official said Monday.
The affidavits are those of former Health Minister AFM Ruhul Haque, former state ministers Abdul Mannan Khan and Mahbubur Rahman, MPs Aslamul Haque, Abdur Rahman Bodi and MA Jabbar.
The ACC has begun investigating the six after various newspapers published reports citing their affidavits to suggest a rather unusual increase in their wealth over the past five years.
The EC official, requesting anonymity, said the corruption watchdog asked for the affidavits in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, according to a news agency.
