The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought relevant information to re-examine the wealth statement submitted by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and to investigate allegations of assets acquired beyond her known sources of income, reports BSS.
Deputy Director of the ACC's Public Relations Department, Md Akhtarul Islam, confirmed the matter on Moday.
According to an official letter issued by the ACC's Dhaka Divisional Office, the commission is re-examining the wealth statement of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina submitted on September 2, 2007, and conducting an inquiry into assets acquired after September 2, 2008. An investigating officer (IO) has been assigned to reinvestigate the matter.
The letter stated that, in the interest of a proper investigation, it is necessary to collect relevant information from various institutions.
Accordingly, details have been sought from the principal branch of Agrani Bank PLC in Dhaka regarding branch managers and locker in-charges who served between 1990 and 2008.
