ACC seeks Hawlader affidavit from EC

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Sunday served a letter to the Election Commission (EC) seeking affidavit and information about the former Jatiya Party (JP) secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader. He is now on ACC's investigation into accumulation of alleged illegal wealth.
ACC assistant director Hamidul Hasan signed the letter and the EC secretariat received it Monday, the anti-graft watchdog sources said.
The EC secretariat has been requested to send all the information including affidavit that Mr Hawlader provided to the EC before the 10th Parliamentary Election.
On April 9, the ACC took a decision to investigate the alleged illegal wealth of Mr Hawlader after getting allegations.
Mr Howlader was elected from Patuakhali-1 constituency in the ninth parliament from Barisal-6 in the tenth parliament election.
Earlier, the ACC started investigation into the alleged illegal wealth of the seven ministers and members of parliament (MPs). They were former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, MP, former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman MP, lawmaker of Cox's Bazar-4 Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP of Rajshahi-4 Engineer Enamul Haq, MP of Dhaka-14 Aslamul Haque and Abdul Jabbar of Satkhira.
