The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday started searching wealth information of Haji Mohammad Selim MP and his son Mohammad Erfan Selim, who was accused of assaulting a Navy officer.
ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Dr M Mozammel Haque Khan said this at a press briefing at the commission premises in the city's Segunbagicha.
"The ACC is collecting information on wealth accumulated by Haji Selim and his family members. If the commission found anything illegal, it will take action within its jurisdictions," he said.
Asked about the alleged land-grabbing by Haji Selim and his sons, Mr. Haque said the ACC will take measures if it is proved that the accused had occupied government property.
The ACC move came within two days after arresting Erfan, his bodyguard Md Zahid, driver Miznur Rahman and an associate AB Siddique Dipu by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) based on a case filed by the Navy officer.
