ACC sues Bapex official, wife over illegal wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged on Tuesday a case against an official of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (Bapex) and his wife for alleged accumulation of wealth from unknown sources.
The commission in the case made accused AKM Anwarul Islam, a general manager (accounts & finance) of Bapex, and his wife Farida Yasmin for gaining illegal wealth worth Tk 11,093,924 in between 2005 and 2016.
ACC deputy director Helal Uddin Sharif filed the case with Ramna Police Station.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) of the case, the couple concealed the information of aforementioned property in their wealth statement.
