ACC sues five NHA officials

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case Tuesday against five officials of National Housing Authority (NHA) on charge of allocating a plot of land illegally.
Mabbubul Alam, deputy assistant director of ACC, filed the case against them with Shahbagh thana, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the Financial Express (FE).
The accused NHA officials are its member M Ikramuzaman, former superintending engineer Nurul Islam, assistant engineer Muzammel Haque, deputy assistant engineer Mollah Nowsher Ali and UD clerk Hedayet Ullah.
The NHA earlier allocated a plot in the name of Omar Faruk, according to the first information report.
The NHA officials in connivance with each other cancelled the allocation during 2003 to 2011 for their personal interests and reallocated it to Mohammad Ali Sarkar violating government rules.
The case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947. All the five accused had retired from their job.
