ACC sues Shah Alam

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Sunday filed a case against Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, popularly known as Shah Alam.
ACC Deputy Director Abdullah Al Zahid filed the case with the Ramna Police Station.
Shah Alam's wife Afroza Begum and their sons Sadat Sobhan, Sayem Sobhan, Shafiyat Sobhan and Safowan Sobhan have also been accused in the case.
Shah Alam earned Tk 5.85 billion (Tk 585 crore) beyond his known income source, Ramna police sub-inspector Mahira Khanom told the bdnews24.com.
Shah Alam's wife and sons have been accused of assisting him in earning the ill-gotten money.
Shah Alam mentioned Tk 6.2543 billion in his wealth statement submitted to the ACC through his lawyer on March 29.
He had gone into hiding after the government launched an anti-corruption crackdown.
