FE Report | Friday, 20 June 2014
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch a probe against former Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) chairman Nurul Huda over his alleged irregularities and accumulation of illegal wealth.
The decision was taken at a regular meeting of the Commission on Thursday.
"We took the decision after getting some allegations against the former Rajuk Chairman and will examine those," ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman told the reporters.
The Commission will look into the authenticity of the allegations and take action if the watchdog finds those true, he said.
According to the decision, the ACC would interrogate and seek wealth statement of Mr Huda.
Earlier, the Commission grilled the former Rajuk Chairman over his connection with alleged irregularities in Rajuk plot distribution.
After facing questioning, Mr Huda issued an 'open challenge' to prove graft allegations against him.
He told reporters he had 'no hand' in any corruption at Rajuk, the development authority for capital Dhaka.
Another investigation against the former Housing and Public Works secretary Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain is now going on in the Commission as he allegedly got Rajuk plots abusing power when Mr Huda was the Chairman of Rajuk.
According to ACC sources, Dr Hossain, now Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment secretary, has taken three plots against the names of his family members abusing his power when he was the Housing and Public Works secretary.
The Commission also filed three cases against Dr Hossain over the graft allegations.
