Thursday, 21 August 2014

The Anti Corruption Commission has decided to prosecute a former state minister and two sitting Members of Parliament of the ruling Awami League. They are former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, Patuakhali-4 MP Mahbubur Rahman, who also was a state minister, and Cox’s Bazar-4 MP Abdur Rahman Badi. Mahbubur Rahman served as state minister for water resources during the Awami League’s previous tenure. The move received the approval during a regular meeting of the commission on Thursday, ACC Deputy Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told bdnews24.com. The cases will be filed with Ramna Police Station in the afternoon. The ACC began investigating the three from Jan 22 for their abnormal increase of assets based on the affidavits they submitted to the Election Commission before the 10th general election.
