Tuesday, 25 March 2008
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is going to submit chargesheet in the case against detained BNP senior joint secretary general Tarique Rahman very soon for concealing his wealth information and amassing wealth that do not match his known sources of income, reports UNB.
"The process of submission of chargesheet in the case against Tarique Rahman is at the final stage. We can assume that the chargesheet will be submitted very soon," ACC director general (admin) Col Hanif Iqbal told the ACC's regular briefing Monday.
Hanif said, "The chargesheet can be submitted by this week. I can't say it so surely. But, to the best of my knowledge it's at the final stage. The submission of chargesheet awaits the Commission's approval."
On September 26, 2007, the anti-graft watchdog filed the case with
Kafrul police station against Tarique, his wife Dr Jobaida Rahman and mother-in-law Syeda Iqbalmand Banu for concealing information of assets worth about Tk 42.3 million and acquiring wealth worth about Tk 48.1 million beyond their known sources of income.
