ACC to sue Ani, Jabbar

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file separate cases against BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Ani and former Jatiya Party MP Abdul Jabbar for allegedly amassing illegal wealth. The Commission at its recent meeting approved filing cases against them, ACC acting chairman M Shahabuddin said on Saturday. In February 2014, the ACC launched a probe into the graft allegation against Ani. ACC deputy director Manzur Morshed conducted the inquiry. During the ACC’s inquiry, it was found that illegal wealth worth nearly Tk 15 million was amassed by Ani and his family members. In February 2014, the ACC initiated probe against Abdul Jabbar, a former MP of Satkhira-2, along with 6 other ruling party politicians for allegedly accumulating unusual wealth and found that Jabber accumulated wealth illegally, ACC sources said, according to UNB.
