ACC will issue notices to 15 more for wealth statements

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to issue notices through its regional offices in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Jessore and Bogra to 15 more corruption suspects including politicians and a number of officials of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) for submitting their wealth statements, reports UNB.

"The Commission Sunday approved issuing summons to 15 corruption suspects following recommendations of the relevant regional offices. The letter of approval will be sent to the regional offices within this week," an ACC source said Monday evening.

He said, the regional offices would issue notices to the corruption suspects after receiving the Commission's approval letter.

Replying to a question, the source said that as usual these corruption suspects would be asked to submit their wealth statements within seven days.

Those to be summoned to submit wealth statements are chief engineer of Sylhet City Corporation Saiful Islam, former deputy commissioner of Sylhet (now deputy secretary of the Information Ministry) SM Faisal Alam, former High Court peshkar Rokonuddin Miah, former state minister Nurul Huda, Sherpur (Bogra) Municipality chairman Jane Alam Khoka, Bogra district BNP general secretary Saiful Islam, Habibur Rahman of Jessore, Jessore district Awami League leader Shahin Chaklader, Jessore BNP leader Nurun Nabi, former minister Tariqul Islam's wife Nargis Islam, former director (mechanical) of CPA Khairul Mostafa, deputy manager (estate) of CPA Zillur Rahman, principal officer of CPA Habibur Rahman, chief hydrographer of CPA Habibur Rahman Khan, and terminal manager of CPA Moshiur Rahman Beg.
