Accused person dies at DMCH

An accused of an extortion charge fell sick at the court compound and died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the city Friday, reports UNB.
Ratan Ahmed, arrested by RAB from Mirpur Thursday in an extortion charge was taken to the DMCH at about 11:00 am where doctors on duty declared him dead.
Police said members of RAB-4 caught Ratan red handed while receiving extortion money of Tk 10,000 from a businessman behind Sony Cinema
Hall at Mirpur-2 Thursday night. Later, he was handed over to Mirpur police station.
"After filing a case against Ratan we sent him to the court Friday morning where he fell sick and immediately rushed to the DMCH where doctors declared him dead," Officer in-Charge of Mirpur thana Mohiuddin Ahmed said to the news agency.
But, the victim's family members alleged that Ratan became sick as the RAB men tortured him heavily that ultimately claimed his life.
