Action against river-linking projects by India urged

Speakers at a workshop in Kathmandu stressed on necessary action against river-linking projects taken up by the Indian government, diverting huge amounts of water from the Brahmaputra and Ganga rivers to central and southern India. They also urged an integrated regional water resource management plan by the all the South Asian countries, particularly India, Nepal and Bangladesh. This was said in the workshop titled People’s Perspective on South Asia Water Commons held at LDTA Small Hall-C beside Staff College of Nalitpur, adjacent to Kathmandu on Saturday, according to a news agency.
