Activists of 3 leagues create reign of terror: Khaleda

Wednesday, 12 November 2014

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said that the Awami League-led government is an illegal one. She claimed that it was not elected to power by the voters. Launching a scathing attack on the government, Khaleda said: ‘This government is killer.’ She demanded abolishing the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), saying ‘The government is using RAB, police and members of Bangladesh Chhatra League to abduct and kill people’. Khaleda also the leader of the 20-party alliance, came up with the allegations while addressing a mammoth public rally in Kishoreganj town on Wednesday afternoon. Accusing that 3 front organisations of the AL have created a state of lawlessness in Bangladesh through acts of hooliganism, she said, three leagues – Chhatra League, Jubo League and Shechhasebak League – (the student, youth and voluntary wings of the ruling party) have created reign of terror in the country. ‘They are carrying out violence and other criminal activities,’ she said. ‘They are very strong, they don’t care anyone.’ Referring to newspaper reports that 13 BCL leaders, convicted for killing Biswajit, were released from the jail, the BNP chief said that the ruling party has gone mad to killing, abduction and forced disappearances of innocent people. ‘Many families come to us with the photographs of the missing people seeking justice that their relatives were picked up by the law enforcement agencies,’ she said, adding that the government has no right to stay in power anymore, according to a news agency.
