Friday, 5 December 2014

The body of actress Nayar Sultana Lopa has been dug out from her grave in Banani graveyeard in the city for re-autopsy. Her body was exhumed in the presence of an executive magistrate on Thursday afternoon. It was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College in Old Dhaka for fresh autopsy. Police said that there were wounds on the right side of her neck and on her right wrist. The report of her autopsy said the 35-year-old had hung herself but her mother rejected the finding and pleaded for re-examination. Dhaka's Deputy Commissioner accepted her plea and ordered the body to be exhumed on November 26. A committee led by a professor of the Sir Salimullah Medical College was tasked to supervise it. Lopa's husband Amin was arrested soon after the case was filed. He claimed he was outside when Lopa hung herself for a fight they were having over the ownership of their Gulshan apartment. But Lopa's mother Razia Sultana said Amin is a drug addict, who used to physically assault Lopa regularly, while his parents 'indulged' him, according to a news agency.
